Do you need the original part number?

No. It helps if the number is molded onto the part itself, since it tells us the maker and sometimes the material. Photograph it if you can find it, but it is not required.

What if the part was metal?

We look at load, heat and wear before we say yes. Sometimes PA-CF works in place of metal. Sometimes plastic is the wrong answer for that part, and we say so plainly.

Will it match the original color?

PLA and PETG come in a set of stock colors. ABS comes in fewer. We match the closest stock color we carry, not a custom shade mixed to your sample.

When the maker stops selling a small plastic part, the machine does not have to stop with it. Send photos with a few sizes, mail the part, or upload a file. A person tells you whether it can be reproduced, and what it costs, before you commit.

What NLA, obsolete and discontinued actually mean

NLA: No longer available. The maker stopped supplying the part and has no stock.
Obsolete: The maker has dropped the part or the whole product line. No replacement is planned.
Discontinued: Production stopped. Remaining stock may exist somewhere, or may not.
Superseded: Replaced by a new part number. Sometimes the new part fits. Often it does not.
Back order: The part exists on paper but nobody can say when it ships.

Parts sites use these words the same way. When you see one on the part you need, the maker is not going to help. What you need at that point is the shape, not the part number.

When a printed part is a good answer, and when it is not

A printed part is usually a good answer when the small plastic part was plastic to begin with. Covers, guards with no safety duty, knobs, guides, clips, bushings, brackets and trim all print well.

Some parts are a plain no, every time:

We do not make parts that carry or touch drinking water in a supply system.
We do not make parts that hold pressure, in water, air, hydraulic fluid or refrigerant.
We do not make gas train, burner, igniter, flue or vent parts.
We do not make parts that hold, insulate or enclose live electrical connections.
We do not make parts that touch food or drink.
We do not make machine guards, interlock parts, fall protection, lifting parts, fire door or exit hardware, or anything a person's safety rests on.
We do not make medical device parts or vehicle safety parts.

A part that lives in a hot place gets a human review before we quote it, and often a different material.

Most parts print with a 0.4 mm nozzle. Fine detail, small text or thin walls can be reviewed for a 0.2 mm nozzle on our own printers. A person confirms it before you pay.

One-piece parts up to about 220 mm on the longest side price instantly. Up to 250 mm goes through a person. Larger parts are split or quoted.

A superseded part is not always a fit

Sometimes the parts site does not say NLA. It points you to a new part number instead. That new part can have a different hole pattern, a different mount, or a different overall size than the one you took out.

Measure the machine, not the new part. Tell us the sizes that have to match on your equipment and we build to that, not to a listing page.

Turnaround, and what a real job looks like

Most orders ship in 3 to 5 business days. That clock starts once a file is approved and ready to print.

Measuring your part and modeling the shape is a separate step. That step gets a quote with a date before any work starts, so you know what you are agreeing to.

Expedited production is a request. A person emails you a price and a date before anything starts.
