Editorial Policy

One person runs 3D Printer on Demand. There is no editorial staff and no outside content agency. That person is responsible for everything published here, sets the prices in the code, and is the one who signs off on a page before it goes live. When this site says a page was reviewed, it means a person read the page again and checked it against the numbers the app actually uses to run the business.

Until that person publishes a name for this page, we credit 3D Printer on Demand instead of inventing a byline. That is the honest choice: an empty author is honest, a generic one is not.

Lead time, price, part size, shipping, materials, and file types on this site are not written by hand on each page. They are read from one file in our code, lib/facts.ts, and that same file is what the checkout and quote tools use to actually run the business. A test suite fails our own build if a page states a number that file does not agree with.

That means the number a page tells you and the number checkout charges you cannot quietly drift apart. No other page on the site is allowed to keep its own private copy of one of these facts.

Every technical claim on this site falls into exactly one of four classes, and we try to say which class a number is in every time we state one.

1. A manufacturer datasheet value. A number a material maker or equipment maker published, such as a plastic's heat deflection temperature. It describes their test, not ours.
2. Representative behavior of a printed part.General behavior FDM plastic tends to show, stated as guidance, not a guarantee for your exact part.
3. An internal test result. A number we measured ourselves, with a protocol, a sample size, and an instrument named.
4. A guaranteed specification on an order. A number that appears on your quote, which we stand behind for that order.

Here is the plain state of each class today. We currently publish no internal test results, because we have no published test data yet. Nothing on this site is a guaranteed specification unless it appears on your quote. If a page states a number and does not say which of the four classes it is in, that is a gap, and you can report it on the corrections page.

Numbers like heat deflection temperature or tensile strength per material come from material datasheets, machine vendor design guides, or published standards, not from us. Our policy is that every one of those numbers names its source on the page. A number with no source we can name does not go on the page.

We are working through our own material pages to add a named source next to every one of these numbers. Until a number carries a named source, treat it as directional, and tell us if you rely on it and need the source in writing.

FDM parts typically hold about plus or minus 0.5 percent, with a floor near plus or minus 0.5 mm. We do not certify a tolerance number on a quote.

No CMM, no dimensional reports, no PPAP, no first article inspection. If your part needs a measured report to be accepted, we are not the right supplier.

A visible “Last reviewed” date on a page means one thing: a person read that page again and checked it against lib/facts.ts on that date. The date does not move when we deploy the site, run a build, or ship an unrelated change. It only moves the next time a person actually re-reads that page against the registry and updates the record by hand.

A page with no visible review date has not gone through this process yet. That is a true statement about the page, not an oversight we are hiding.

If we want to state a number and cannot name where it came from, we do not publish it. We would rather leave a page shorter than put a number on it we cannot stand behind.

If you find a number on this site with no source, or a number you believe is wrong, tell us on the corrections page. We fix the underlying record, not just the page you saw.

We sell 3D printing. That is a conflict of interest you should know about before you read our comparison pages. Our comparison pages are written by a company that competes with the companies it compares, not by an independent reviewer.

Because of that, our comparison pages do not link out to the competitors they name. We would rather you know the bias up front than pretend the page is neutral.
