How It Works

  1. Open the panel. In a Part Studio, click the 3D Printer on Demand icon in the right panel.
  2. Sign in once. Click Sign in with Onshape, then Allow. You only do this one time.
  3. Pick a part. Choose a part, a material, a color and how many you need. Click Get price. The price each, shipping and the total show in a few seconds.
  4. Change your mind. Pick a new material, color or quantity and the price updates. Order more and the price each drops.
  5. Order on our site. Click Order this part. Our site opens in a new tab with your part, material and quantity filled in. You check out there. Nothing is charged in Onshape.

Every part gets the same printability checks as our design checks on the website, and the same price as our instant quote. Made in the USA. Most orders ship in 3 to 5 days.

Get the App

Coming soon to the Onshape App Store. Once it is listed, you will find it by searching for 3D Printer on Demand, then click Subscribe. The app is free. You only pay for parts you order on our site.

What It Reads

The app asks Onshape for one permission: to read your documents. It can never change, share or delete them.

  • When you open the panel, it reads the names of the parts in that Part Studio.
  • When you click Get price, our server asks Onshape for that one part as an STL file in millimeters, plus its size, so we can check the file came out right.
  • When you change the material, color or quantity, we price the file we already have. We do not read the part again.

The app does not ask Onshape for your name or email. We use your part only to price it and make your order. How we handle and keep what we get is on our privacy page.

Limits

  • PETG, PLA, PETG-CF and OPM get a price right away. ABS, PA-CF and TPU are quoted by a person. Ask on our quote request page.
  • Biggest part: 256 mm (10 in) on the longest side. Some parts need a person to check them first, like very large orders or very fine detail. The panel says so, and you can send the part for review.
  • Solid parts only. Surfaces and sketch curves cannot be printed, so the panel does not list them.

Common Questions

Why does it ask if my part was made in inches? The part reads very small. Click Use inches if you drew it in inches. Click Keep this size if it really is that small.

My part is not in the list. The panel lists solid parts only. Add a solid part, then click Refresh.

It asks me to sign in again. Your sign in lasts a while, then ends. If you removed the app's access in Onshape, you need to allow it again.

How do I stop the app? In Onshape, open your account settings and remove 3D Printer on Demand from the apps you allowed.

Help

Email quotes@3dprinterondemand.com. A real person reads every message. Tell us the part name and what you saw, word for word if you can.

Rather Export an STL Yourself?

You do not need the app. In Onshape, right click the part in the parts list, click Export, pick STL and set the units to Millimeter. Then upload it on our instant quote page. It takes STL, 3MF, STEP or OBJ files.
